AT AN ANGLE- South Bank Walk London

At an Angle, London SE1

Result of a project with the Royal College of Art and Coin Street Builders

This piece invites the viewer to step-up and view the world at an angle, questioning the role of a piece of furniture in a public space, located on the banks of the River Thames in central London next to the Oxo Tower this was a collaboration between the RCA and Coin St Builders in 2000. The piece looks out over to the city of London and when you rest back into the piece you look at the sky over St Paul’s cathedral.

The structure is a concrete caste with a granite sand mix. I made this peice in a workshop with a good friend of mine Martin Hall in a workshop in Wiltshire. At an Anglet was then transported to London and at one point was dangling over the Thames swinging from the hook of a ‘high ab ‘crane. It was first installed outside the Royal College of Arts then onto the Southbank.
